JAX

My name is Jackson but my close friends call me Jax.  My estimated DOB is 10/4/09, and I'm a black and white male cocker spaniel.  I was picked up as a stray and was very thin and very dirty and matted.  It wasn’t a fun life.  But Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue saved the day!  They found me a foster mom who is lovingly caring for me.  She worked hours at clipping off the horrible mats and giving me a bath.  In return I gave her lots of love and gratitude.

I wasn’t afraid of the bath and showed no fear or aggression at the tedious work of clipping off the mats.  I love to give those famous cocker kisses.  I’m very affectionate and I love to be petted (can you say “needy”? but why not as I’ve been neglected for such a long time).  She was shocked to see how thin I was under all those mats (can you say “emaciated?”). I only weigh 15 ½ lbs so I need 3 or 4 square meals a day until I get up to average cocker weight.

I love to play ball but am not so great at bringing it back to you.  I thought it was mine.  Now you want me to give it back??  I am learning to walk on a leash.  I sit for treats but other than that, I have too much energy to sit for very long.  I’m working on the housebreaking thing.  I love to go outside but I’m happier if you come with me.  I’m afraid you’re going to leave me out there and disappear.  You’re not?  Well, okay then.  I can get used to doing it on my own in time.
I’m good with my foster mom’s other dogs so if you already have dogs in your family and you’re considering adding me to the bunch, it’s okay.  I’m not even interested in chasing cats.  I have not met a human big or small that I don’t like.  I’m good with kids.

I like to sleep in my crate but I’d rather you didn’t lock me into it.  The nice people at GCCSR describe me as “uber sweet” and “mom” says that I am “going to make someone a very sweet and loving friend.”  She also says I’m an “awesome little guy.”  (Can doggies blush?)  And…. she says “this little baby will just live to please once he settles in more.  I love him and who ever adopts him will get a very sweet and loving little guy.”

Jackson is heartworm positive so at this time he is available to be taken as a “foster to adopt” situation.  He will be neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all shots before adoption.
If your heart goes out to Jax and you think you’d like to bring him into your fold, please clink on the Adoption Application link above and fill out the form.  Jackson is waiting to show you how happy he is for providing him with his new forever home.
